February 29, 2016 -- With her new CD tucked under her arm, Melissa Brethauer has continued pushing ahead with live shows, interviews, radio airplay, and yes, even more songwriting.
The momentum from last fall’s release of “Easy Way Out” has carried over to bookings at new venues and a hunger for more and more activity.

“I’ve been enjoying the fruits of the ‘Easy Way Out’ release,” Melissa said, “but at the same time also acknowledging that this is work.  At the end of the day, it’s a business.  While I was happy to get the new album out, I realized that there really wasn’t room to stop and sit around basking in the glow of a new CD.  Artists are putting out new music every day.  So I've made sure to keep working and stay busy.  I’m very grateful for the opportunities that I’m getting.”
Melissa noted a recent performance at the prestigious Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, in particular (photo below), and even pointed back to a holiday event she did back in December up in Torrance (California) (“I still really like that venue and that event”), not to mention a venue she’ll perform at for the first time in El Segundo in March (already booked to play there again in April).
She also expressed optimism to return this year to the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival in Alabama, which she accepted invitations to perform at three previous years.  Plus she said she always has the dates circled on her calendar for the Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival.
For now, though, the focus is on the next day and the next show, and even the next song, since, “I can’t turn the songwriter part of me off,” she said with a smile.
